Corrine and Altaf Table

This is the casting process of a table that i made for young couple.

Pose is determined and discussed and practiced.

Alginate is mixed and poured on the couple to take the impression and then cotton put on top of that, then plaster bandages are used to make everything strong and workable.

The mold is removed from the couple so i can make a positive.

That's me pouring the plaster in the mold. Work fast i keep telling myself.

The plaster positive is removed, duplicating the original pose.

Some fixing and alterations are made.

Here is the final piece. The client wanted an earthy feel so we used sand and river rocks. The client lives in a loft so the table was made from plywood, casters to make it movable, pipes that were cut to size and a thick glass top. My very good friend Mike G was sweet enough to help me with table.

The final piece in the living room.
